May and June are exquisite months to sail the British Virgin Islands or Turks and Caicos: Great weather, blue sky, bright sun, turquoise waters, smooth seas and paradise beaches. This is Ze time to come! http://www.caicossailing.com/
Hotel Las Palapas; one of the first in Playa del Carmen, it’s celebrating their 20th Anniversary with new room decoration. Congratulations!
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo. April 4th, 2011. – Using wood and a more sleek design, where white and natural brown on the palapas and furniture are predominant, the special contrast between the natural beauty of the gardens and the simplicity of the Hotel are better experienced.
The romantic structures holding the beds are decorated with flowing veils and pillows on blue; matching the turquoise colors of this paradise coast on the Mexican Caribbean.
Las Palapas has always been one of the favorites in Playa del Carmen. Its particular layout gives their guests independence and privacy, and the feeling of a small village by the sea – away from civilization and lost in dense vegetation – but just a few steps from multicultural Quinta Avenida.
In 1991, when it was first opened, this property was surrounded by jungle, and Playa had no more than 5,000 inhabitants. The Hotel had no telephone, nor fax, but was already welcoming tourists, - mostly europeans in the beginning -, that just like today, come looking for tranquility, great service and the beautiful beach front at Las Palapas.
On this 20th anniversary, a new era begins for this iconic property in Playa. New decoration, new room categories and a new concept at the Beach and pool area; opening to the public, to enjoy music and a full day at the Beach or a delicious margarita at sunset.
ABOUT HOTEL LAS PALAPAS.
Welcome to Hotel Las Palapas, strategically located in Playa del Carmen on 5th Avenue, next to Mamita’s Beach Club, and directly on a magnificent beach of white sand, turquoise sea and soft breeze among the palm trees.
Enjoy the best beach in Playa del Carmen, sunbathe on the soft sand, unique to this beach, enjoying the crystalline waters and the perfect weather.
Take some time to be in contact with nature and the exuberant vegetation in the ecological section of the hotel; fully 75% of the land is untouched and remains in its natural state. Or simply head for the garden area and enjoy our tropical gardens while resting in a hammock, being refreshed by the breeze from the Mexican Caribbean.

Sailing the Spanish Virgin Islands. Although the Spanish Virgins lie just 6 miles from Puerto Rico and 15-20 miles from the U.S. Virgin Islands, they are far less crowded. Even though they’re part of the United States, they have none of the commercialism of the U.S. Virgin Islands, nor the crowds of charter boats that fight for moorings in the British Virgin Islands. For those who are looking for a boating vacation where gunk-holing is the order of the day and star-gazing de rigueur for the night, the Spanish Virgin Islands are perfect. Old hands describe them as “the BVIs 35 years ago.” Why are these islands still so pristine and unspoiled? Blame it on the Marines — and the U.S. Navy — they owned the islands for private operations until the mid-1970’s. It’s an easy flight to either San Juan Puerto Rico or St. Thomas, USVI, then on to the Spanish Virgin Islands! Read more… http://bit.ly/h1Jr9j
